States with Infection Control Training Requirements

Note: Those states that are marked with an asterisk (*) require that the training program and / or provider obtain specific authorization from the licensing authority.

ProCEO has obtained the required authorizations to to offer training in all states.

Alabama Dentists and hygienists must complete a 1 CE Infectious Disease Control course annually.
Arizona Dentists and hygienists must complete a 3 CE Infectious Diseases or Infection Control for relicensure. Denturists - 2 CE.
Arkansas Dentists and hygienists must complete a 1 CE Infection Control course for relicensure. Expanded duty assistant - 2 CE.
California* All dental professionals must complete 2 CE's in California Infection Control (and 2 CE's in California Dental Practice Act). Training on this site is only for Infection Control. Dental Assistant new applicants must complete an 8-hour hands-on course that is not offered here.
Connecticut Required courses for Dentist - at least 1 CE in Infectious Disease (with HIV); For Dental Hygienists - at least one hour of training or education in infection control in a dental setting.
Delaware Dentists and hygienists must complete 2 CE's in Infection Control.
District of Columbia Dentists and Dental Hygienists are required to complete 2 CE's in Infection Control every 2 years
Hawaii Dental Hygienists must complete infection control as part of their biennial 20 hours of CE.
Idaho Dental Hygienists must complete infection control as part of their biennial 30 hours of CE.
Indiana Dentists and Dental Hygienists require annual Infection control and OSHA training (no hours specified) .
Iowa Dentists, Dental Hygienists and Registered Dental Assistants are required to complete 1 CE in Infection Control each year.
Maryland* Dentists and Registered Dental Hygienists are required to complete 3 CE's of Maryland Infection Control every renewal cycle.  Assistants certified in radiology must complete 2 CE's of Infection Control.
Massachusetts Part of the CEUs required for all dentists, hygienists and assistants include a course in Infection Control in the dental health-care setting. The course presented here covers CDC Recommendations.
Michigan All dental professionals required to complete 1 CE in Infection Control every three years.
Minnesota All dental professionals required to complete course in Infection Control.
Montana Dentists and Dental Hygienists must have infection control CE as part of their total CE requirements every two years.
Nebraska All dental professionals must have 2 CE's of infection control every renewal period.
Nevada Dentist and dental hygienists are required to have 4 CE's in Infection Control every 2 years.
New Hampshire Dentists and Dental Hygienists must have at least 2 CE's in infection control every two years.
New Jersey Dentists must have at least 2 CE's in infection control every two years. Dental Hygienists and Assistants require 1 CE in infection control every two years.
New Mexico* All dental professionals are required to complete a course in Infection Control.
New York* All licensed dental professionals are required to complete training in Infection Control and Barrier Precautions
North Dakota All dental professionals are required to complete  2 CE's  in Infection Control every two years.
Oklahoma Oral maxillofacial surgery assistants need 1 CE of infection control while dental assistants required to complete 2 CE of infection control.
Oregon All dental professionals required to complete 2 CE's in Infection Control every two years.
Rhode Island All dental professionals are required to complete 1 CE of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen annually.
South Carolina Dentist and dental hygienists are required to complete 2 CE's in Infection Control. Dentists are also required to ensure that auxiliary staff who have contact with blood & body fluids complete 2 hours biennially on Infection Control & Sterilization.
South Dakota Dental professionals are required to have infection control CE as part of their total CE requirement. Number of hours not specified.
Washington Dental professionals are required to have 1 hour of training annually in infection control. Dentists may use 1 CE of training toward their annual requirement.
Wisconsin All Dental Therapists and Dental Hygeinists are required to complete 2 CE of Infection Control every 2 years.
West Virginia* All dental professionals are required to complete 2 CE's of Infection Control.
